What is prostatic ducts?

Prostatic ducts are small tubes that transport seminal fluid from the prostate gland to the urethra. The prostate gland is a walnut-sized gland located below the bladder in men. It produces a thick, alkaline fluid that makes up a significant part of the semen. The prostatic ducts arise from the alveoli of the prostate gland and converge to form two main ducts, the right and left ejaculatory ducts. These ducts then merge with the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine and semen out of the body. The prostatic ducts are lined with specialized epithelial cells that secrete various compounds, including enzymes, ions, and proteins. The proper functioning of the prostatic ducts is essential for male reproductive health, as any damage or blockage can lead to infertility, urinary problems, or other health complications.
